Sales & Logistics Support at Mercanta

Founded in 1996, Mercanta are importers of green coffee with a focus on investing in quality and relationships. Mercanta source a huge variety of coffees from over twenty producing countries, distributing to a network of small to medium size boutique coffee roasters across the globe. With offices in London, Seattle, Singapore, Dubai,  Glasgow, Berlin, and Guatemala City, Mercanta’s overarching goal is to deliver sustainably sourced, specialty grade coffee to as many roasters as possible.  

Because of these ambitious plans, Mercanta are continuously on the hunt for motivated individuals to join the family. With the relatively recent opening of our European Headquarters in Berlin, Germany, we are searching for a Sales & Logistics Support to help manage and grow the business. The successful applicant will be trained in house by our experienced team, combined with an opportunity to study at our state-of-the-art training centre in  London.

Sales & Logistics Support 

Job Specifications 

• Executing movement of goods across the continent efficiently and effectively 

• Part-management of SPOT position and communication with UK & European warehouses

• Assisting in developing a portfolio of roaster accounts across Germany  

• Daily quality control of offer, pre-shipment, and arrival samples (cupping) 

• Daily dispatch of samples to clients across the continent  

• Visits to coffee producing countries depending on business needs 

• Client visits and tasting sessions 

Required Attributes 

•  The applicant must hold a European passport or a valid EU work permit

• Fluent in German & English, written and spoken 

• Educated to a bachelor’s degree standard or equivalent industry experience 

• Genuine interest in coffee and sustainable supply chains 

• Excellent communication, decision making, and negotiation skills  

• Well organised, intuitive, and self-motivated  

• Relationship management experience 

• Resilience and determination to succeed in a competitive environment 

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team 

• A team player willing to step outside of their job description to assist colleagues when required

• Willingness to travel and assist at trade shows 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 

• Proficiency in SAP ByDesign preferred
