Light, dark, City +, French, Vienna… what roast do you like?
There are many different ways to describe your roast grade and, while most people will be satisfied with describing it as light, medium, or dark, roasters really do need to know the all the different levels.
Fortunately, there are plenty of online resources. And this video, courtesy of Sweet Maria’s Coffee, will take you through the way the bean changes as it’s roasted. Starting with green beans and moving all the way to Full City +, it demonstrates how the colour, chaff, and texture develop.
