What’s the best time to drink coffee?

The human body runs on a circadian rhythm, a roughly 24 hour physiological process that regulates several bodily processes including our sleep pattern. Cortisol or ‘the stress hormone’ is the chemical released during the “fight-or-flight” response, and directly relates your level of alertness throughout the day.

Cortisol levels naturally peak right from the time you wake up until 9 am, from 12 – 1 pm, and from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Consuming coffee during peak cortisol levels diminishes the caffeine effects and helps your body build a tolerance to it.

What does this mean? Essentially, the best time to drink coffee is outside of the above times or approximately an hour after waking up!
